I bet you guys already saw this coming! Joining the Bingsu/Bingsoo bandwagon, here's my dedicated post to one of my current fave dessert and comfort food!
Bingsu/Bingsoo (I'm still unsure which is the correct way to spell it) is a popular korean dessert consisting of shaved ice and different fruits and nuts toppings, whipped cream/ ice cream and condensed milk.
I feel that each country has their own version of shaved ice dessert (yes i googled it to make sure) but what makes this exceptional is the texture of the ice. Well, to be fair i've only had two versions (I think) the Filipino Halo-Halo and Singapore's Ice Kachang. So i can't compare much, but the ice's texture is superbly good. It's almost snow-like, fluffy and it melts in your mouth.
It comes with a condensed milk so you can adjust the sweetness to your preference. If you're not a penut fan/ allergic to it, i suggest getting those with fruit toppings only. The peanut taste can be really strong and it's not good for you if you're allergic to it.
I don't really know if there's a proper way of eating this, but what i like to do to almost all the shaved ice desserts i've tried. I will mix everything up so i can get a good mouthful of each of the components and different flavours and texture as well.
Flavours i would recommend: PatBingsu ($12.90), Sweet potato Bingsu ($18.90) and Mango Bingsu ($18.90)
I would pass on the strawberry and oreo because i feel that there's other bingsu place that sells the same thing for a cheaper price but almost the same taste. (Once Ice Cafe located at Jcube has a good oreo bingsu, for more than Half the price)
The price varies from $12.90 to $18.90 (At Nunsaram itself, prices will be pretty similar at other "known" bingsu places, though, there are cheaper ones as well, One Ice cafe at Jcube where bingsu prices range from $6.90- $8.90 if im not wrong)
Share with us your fave bingsu place, and if you haven't tried so, it won't hurt ;)
