Before I get started with the review it self I just want to say that, yes this is an old news and season 1 was way long over but I am a late bloomer as I only started watching this series last week. In fact I started watching this due to the recommendation of a lot of may friends who have fretting about this series for months now, and I have to be honest, they successfully converted me into their clan. Enough said, let’s continue with the review that I intend to do anyways.

The story of SUITS started off with the promotion of Harvey Specter as the Senior Partner who was also known as ‘The Best Closer in New York”, who works for one of the top three law firms in the city known as the ‘Pearson & Hardman’. The said law firm was also known to be the ‘Clubhouse’ of Harvard Law graduates, as they only employ associates who graduated from the said school. However, Harvey was not really found of the idea of employing an associate of his own which was deemed to be excellent just because of the good educational background, and that was when Mike Ross happened. In the same city a guy who was branded as a genius who can even pass the bar exam without getting into law school and who was paid to take LSAT for others was caught up in delivering weeds in behalf of his best friend, and this guy was Mike Ross. The day that Harvey was conducting an interview for his associate, Mike Ross happen to be in the same hotel and was being chased down by the cops which resulted to him entering the room full of Harvard Law graduates and was eventually granted an interview. He honestly told Harvey that he was just running away from the cops when his briefcase opened and the weeds fell to the ground. But despite his lack of law degree he managed to impress Harvey with his knowledge and drive to become a good lawyer.

In this season the relationship between Harvey and Mike was slowly molded as they fight one case from another and at the same time both of them started to learn from each other. Harvey taught Mike how to be a great lawyer with no emotional attachment to any of his clients, which he obviously failed to do most of the time and he also showed weakness in the mock trial between associates, which gave him a bad impression to the other partners of the firm. The other characters in this season portrayed their role in a very convincing way up to the point that you will actually believe that they are indeed the finest lawyers in New York. In fact I was rather entertained of the relationship between Louis Litt and Harvey Specter due to their frenemy status at work. In addition to that the scenes wherein Harvey and Mike quote famous lines from movies lighten the mood. The twist and turns in every episode made me crave for this series more as I was amazed by how lawyers find a loophole in every problem and how they negotiate with such admirable and respectable manner.

There were several occasions that I was indeed convinced that becoming a corporate lawyer is an interesting career, due to the thrill and the excitement you experience for every case you handle. But then again reality strikes me as well in some of the events in the series, which mirrored the fact that not everyone will win and not every victory is honest, but some lost can be sweet and bitter at the same time. Now, I sort of understand why lawyers are paid with large sum of money, not only because of their knowledge but they also put their own morale, pride and even their lives on the line.

In the last episode of season 1, Mike’s bestfriend Trevor was seen meeting Jessica Pearson the Managing Partner of the firm to tell the truth, that Mike never did went to Harvard let alone any law school. If Mike will continue working as an associate and if Harvey will get into trouble because of this is a big question and a cliffhanger. In addition to that the impending love affair between Mike and Rachel left viewers curious on whether this two will eventually end up together in season 2.

In conclusion I gave this season of Suits the rating of 4/5 as some of their lines can be very technical up to the point that viewers with not much knowledge in law, let alone corporate law will be lost a long the way. However, the intense scenes and dynamic of the characters made it interesting enough for me to crave for more. In fact I am currently watching season 2 and I am loving it, the drama is more intense and I can’t wait to tell you guys about it on my next review.
